Head of Production & Facilities – On-site

The Head of Production & Facilities will lead production, engineering, maintenance and facility operations across Northern Leaf’s regulated Jersey site. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will oversee multidisciplinary teams and help ensure operations remain safe, compliant and efficient as the business grows.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Production Leadership & PostHarvest Oversight

  • Follow the grow plan and liaise with the Master Grower to ensure capacity to meet the cultivation and production flow demands.

  • Oversee all production operations including drying, curing, trimming, de‑stemming, machine trimming, dry‑room maintenance, anti-microbial functions and cleaning.

  • Direct activities and allocate workload across post‑harvest areas.

  • Enforce and adhere to all policies and procedures in production and post‑harvest areas.

  • Monitor and document operational and environmental data, including deviations and equipment malfunctions.

B. Environmental Conrol & Compliance

  • Maintain optimal environmental conditions across production and cultivation areas.

  • Ensure compliance with EU‑GMP, GACP, Jersey regulations, QA/QC, GDP, sanitation protocols, and cleanroom procedures.

  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and application of chemicals, equipment, and production materials.

  • Enforce safety and hygiene procedures across production and engineering teams.

C. Documentation, Reporting & Record Keeping

  • Monitor and document operational and environmental data, including deviations and equipment malfunctions.

  • Generate batch records, deviation reports, CAPAs, and engineering validation documentation.

  • Ensure accurate documentation of production output, equipment performance, and facility operations.

  • Report completion or delay of production activities to the COO.

D. Workforce Leadsership & Training

  • Lead and supervise production and engineering teams.

  • Provide on-the-job training, onboarding, and mentoring across all departments.

  • Maintain punctuality, timekeeping, and shift discipline.

  • Address misconduct, non-compliance, or safety breaches promptly.

F. Resource, Inventory & Facilities Management

  • Manage inventory of consumables, PPE, engineering materials, and production equipment.

  • Notify Administration Team and COO of shortages in a timely manner.

  • Ensure proper maintenance and cleaning of all production areas and equipment.

  • Oversee facility systems, equipment lifecycle, and operational readiness.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Deep understanding of GMP regulations, especially EU-GMP and GACP if applicable.

  • Familiarity with quality assurance (QA), quality control (QC), and documentation practices (GDP).

  • Expertise in drying, curing, trimming, storing, and packaging cannabis.

  • Knowledge of how these processes affect cannabinoid and terpene retention, microbial contamination, and overall product quality.

  • Knowledge of sanitation protocols, cross-contamination prevention, and cleanroom procedures if applicable.

  • Ability to train, motivate, and evaluate staff in a compliance-driven environment.

  • Understanding of HVAC, dehumidification, and specialized drying/curing equipment.

  • Planning and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules.

  • Collecting and analysing data to improve yields, drying time, and product consistency.

  • Generating detailed batch records, deviation reports, and CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions).

  • Compliance awareness (GMP, GACP, QA/QC, Health & Safety)

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Certification or training in GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001, or lean manufacturing is a plus.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in commercial industrial environment.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a team management role.

  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams (technicians, QA personnel, trimmers).

  • Writing, implementing, and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures.
